YouTube Playlist: The Winter Mission

As The Summer Job featured predominantly Japanese artists for a story set in Kyoto, so too did The Fall Affair focus on Canadian artists for a story set in Ontario.

Now, with The Winter Mission, I’d like to share the playlist I used when designing and writing the latest gamebook. It continues the trend of using region-specific artists, in this case Swiss artists to represent the story’s setting of Switzerland.

Perhaps interestingly, some of these artists have Canadian connections, particularly Lunik’s Jael, who worked with Delerium, of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Rykka, a Canadian with Swiss roots, who even represented Switzerland in 2016’s Eurovision song contest.

(Side note: Rykka also appeared in the special “How to Play” edition of Operation CanCon!)

Keep in mind that the songs were not necessarily chosen to represent the time period that the gamebook’s is set in… more the feeling I got when hearing them. Hopefully the story was infused with those feelings; the songs certainly evoke the story for me now in return!

Listen to the playlist while reading/playing — as I have arranged them in narrative sequence — or just listen to them on your own and, hopefully, you’ll hear something you enjoy in this varied selection of some of my favourite Swiss music of the past few decades. Viel Spass!
