Lockdown Ludonaut

I’m pleased to announce the arrival of a special two-part project which has been in the works for some time now. In many ways, it’s quite different than anything I’ve worked on before — but still kind of “gamebook-y” — which is why I thought I’d mention it here.

“Different” how, though?

For one thing, it’s a collaboration with Dr. Tanya Pobuda so, for the first time ever, thanks to her fun and colourful creations, the illustrations in a Lockdown Ludonaut book are not just functional, they’re beautiful!

Fantastic Slam is a connected series of poems about an epic “rap battle” between eight legendary creatures of the world’s northwest.

• One book, The North-Western Chants, is intended for younger kids, and features simpler language, shorter poems, and more repetition.
  
• Its companion, The North-Western Stanzas, is meant for older readers, with more complexity and even puzzle elements.

We’d like to offer a special thanks to Sarena Johnson, an Indigenous scholar, for her feedback on the subject matter of both books. Since a portion of their proceeds will be donated to IRSSS.ca (the Indian Residential School Survivors Society) you’re not just having fun, your purchase supports a worthy cause!
